The Boitano Team... Mark and his Team will give you the finest professional service available. They have built that promise, plus a commitment to the highest ethical standards, into their Mission Statement. In terms of annual production, Mark is ranked in the TOP 3% of all RE/MAX agents. He is an International Award Winning Realtor, a Company Top Producer and a former Board of Realtors "Rookie of the Year". He has sold over 750 homes, income producing properties, and parcels of land ... and is happy to provide you with the names and numbers of his many satisfied clients. Mark has a highly successful background in sales and marketing, and that, coupled with a positive, low-key personality, leads clients to remark that he is "extremely knowledgeable", "very professional" and, perhaps most importantly, "Mark listens".
Mark has a hands on approach to his real estate practice and selling homes has been his primary occupation since he received his brokers license in 1993 -- however, since his youth during the days of the highest tensions of the Cold War, Mark has felt an obligation to work towards making the world a better place. While in his 20's he served as a lay missionary for his church, spending much of his time working with youth and single-parent families in the inner cities of various Southern States. Mark moved to Albuquerque in 1983.
In 1987, as a member of the Albuquerque Bicentennial Diamond Jubilee Committee, Mark organized a number of state-wide conferences and "Freedom Parties" in celebration of the 200-year anniversary of American Liberty and the 75-years of New Mexico Statehood. In 1989 he began the Luncheon Roundtable, a monthly forum that brings together community leaders to discuss issues and fashion solutions to local and statewide problems. Mark co-founded Friends to Friends, Inc., a group that was started after the downfall of the Soviet Union in 1991, to build bonds with our former adversaries and help families that were negatively impacted by the Chernobyl tragedy. In February, 1991 Mark organized the "Support The Troops" Rally - which was attended by more than 3,000 people - at the Albuquerque Civic Plaza to back the New Mexicans serving in Operation Desert Storm. From 1990-1992 he served as a Job Mentor for the Albuquerque Business Education Compact. In 1995 Mark started the annual "N.M. Parents' of the Year" event which honors exemplary couples statewide.
Since 1997 Mark has served as a State Senator in the New Mexico Citizen Legislature - the position is part-time and unpaid. He helped craft then sponsored the 1999 Charter Schools Act that allows for the creation of 100 charter schools statewide. Mark introduced legislation in 2000 that created the N.M. Virtual School and has introduced measures to create teacher, parent and student compacts, increase high school graduation requirements, and implement greater local governance in the public school system.
In addition to his efforts to reform public education, Mark has been an advocate for children and families, for creating a more positive business environment, and for a variety of measures to increase affordable housing. Additionally, he has introduced several pieces of consumer-friendly real estate and mortgage loan legislation. He has been honored by the Association of Commerce and Industry as a Business Star and received a Leader Award in 1999, and again in 2001, from the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.
Mark graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, CA and received a B.S. in Political Science and Sociology from Regents College.
